Hi, I'm Cara. I help new arrivals in English-speaking countries understand and chat to fast-talking native speakers by improving their listening skills with movies. I'm originally from the UK, have lived in France for 16 years and I've been teaching English for around 10 years. 

Improving your listening skills helps you not only understand people, but also makes you sound more natural in English. That's because when you understand what people are saying to you, you can pick up expressions that native speakers really use so that you can fit in with them. 

My special listening skills method will also help you watch movies and TV series without the subtitles. 

Here's how my lessons work (my classes are 30 minutes long with pre-class tasks to complete): 

• Before the lesson, I send you links to movie clips plus listening and writing tasks to improve your listening skills.
• You listen to the clips, do the tasks, and write your answers in a Google doc that I share with you. That way I can see your answers.
• During a 30-minute class, we go over your answers together and I help you understand the fast pronunciation of words from the clip you didn't catch.
• You learn new vocabulary, improve your listening skills and work on your pronunciation. We'll also have some general discussion about the clip.

My qualifications: BA (Hons) Linguistics with French and TESOL; CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) 

I offer a structured class in a natural setting, using a mixture of media such as conversation, exercises, video, articles and games. 

I have been teaching English for over 12 years mainly online, but have also taught in a school, people's homes and in companies to individuals and groups up to to 25.  I can offer general, business, legal and converstaional English. I have helped many students toprepare for job interview and teach students of all levels. I have succesfully prepared students for IELTS, TOLES [legal Engish] and can provide training for GCSE English.

Prior to teaching, I have had extensive experience of working in customer service, law, sales and IT across three continents.

I enjoy teaching and it is my full time job. I enjoy teaching everybody and work very hard to help my students achieve their goals.

Hello there! My name is Harrison/Harry, and I was born in & currently live in the US, in a city near Chicago. I've been an English tutor for 4 years, both with Foreign Exchange Students in person as well as online. My teaching style is student-oriented, so depending on your English experience, I can create a unique plan to suit your needs! My method; I like to keep to a lesson plan, but only because that gives a class a good structure, making it simpler for students to understand the small part of the language we are focusing on. I keep it interesting by using various tools, like videos, audio tracks, images and games etc.

Aside from teaching I'm an actress and voiceover artist, - I have a strong interest in film and the arts, and occasionally it's fun reading dialogues or using stories/ scripts with students. 

I also travelled quite a lot in my twenties, and love to learn about different cultures and interests,  - I'm interested in what you want from the English language.

1. How can I help you?

 I offer a mix of classes including Conversation, Grammar, Cambridge Prep, and Business. I focus on student-output and try to make a learner feel as comfortable as possible in the online environment. 

I really encourage you to look at your Speaking skills and comfort. I find that even advanced students benefit from general conversation which I will happily guide.

2. What method do you use?

Together, we will decide what are your goals for the class. Then, I use a mix of multimedia (video, audio, online games) and tradition coursework. 

Alongside working online, I also am an ESL teacher in a Spanish school.

4. I am nervous to start learning English.

Personally, I have been studying Spanish for many years. I know it can cause anxiety to speak in another language. But the best thing to do is just start! Be clear with your goals, time frame, and intentions and go from there.

5. What are you interested in? Are we similar?

I have a love of travelling, and have combined my job (ESL teacher) with this hobby. I also spend a lot of time at the beach and hiking. But don't forget, it can assist in interesting conversations if we have different interests.

I am a certified ESL teacher from London, and I have been teaching for nearly 30 years. However, I now live in sunny Greece with my husband and three children.

 Teaching is my passion and I’m so excited to be given the opportunity to join you on your learning journey.
