Hi there,

My name is Christine. I’m half German, half Belgian, and I have lived in Mexico for 19 years. I have been a teacher for 16 years and I have taught different subjects and languages, such as English, German, Spanish, world history, and geography.  My teaching approach depends on the student's level and interests. That being said, I believe that conversation is an important part of learning a language, and so I often focus on conversation or question-answer sessions in my classes. I love teaching and I always aim to make classes interesting.

I currently use the Netzwerk textbook and workbook by Klett (for A1 level), but I am open to working with other books as well. At the moment I am awaiting new books for other levels. 

My Spanish level is excellent. I speak Latin American Spanish, but I know the grammar for Spanish from both Spain and Latin America.

Hello future students, 

Are you looking to bring your German to the next level? Whether you are a complete beginner, intermediate or even advanced German speaker, I'll be able to tailor a lesson just for you. In our lessons, you will be the main character doing most of the talking and writing, but don't worry, I will guide you through it. 

I have over three years of teaching experience - both online and classroom teaching - and I have worked with students from 11-55 years old, different levels of German, and various cultural backgrounds. We will try and speak as much German as possible right from the start, but it would be helpful if you spoke some English. If not you won't be able to read this text anyways, so I don't really know why I even wrote it here. Oh well. 

If I am not busy teaching German, you can often find me dangling off the end of a rope doing some rock-climbing or going on some stunning hikes, but we can talk more about hobbies in our lessons - in German of course :)

I am a qualified native German teacher (PGCE) from a town near Dortmund and I have been teaching German as a foreign language for over 30 years in a Grammar school setting in Northern Ireland. I have experience in the following: -

• Teaching students to GCSE and A level examinations in my school and privately.
• Prepared students of all ages for the Goethe Institute level A2 and B1 examination.
• Teaching the Junior and Leaving Higher Certificate in German. 
• Teaching children who were born or had lived in Germany for some time but then moved back to the UK and successfully helped them retain their German and also complete the GCSE and A2 examinations for the Goethe Institute. 
• Teaching adults who have relocated to Germany and needed to pass the B1 examination to apply for Citizenship in Germany.

My teaching is as varied as my students are. I often use the online version of the textbook recommended  by the Goethe Institute "Berliner Platz" A1, A2 and B1 level. I adapt my learning style to suit individual needs should you prefer conversational German or a more grammar focused lesson. I make the lesson enjoyable by including up to date teaching materials and refer to websites that will give the learner an insight into German culture as well, whenever possible, play quizzes such as Kahoot.

My name is Sandra and I am a qualified teacher with a Masters of Education in German and English as a Second Language,  Physical Education , Religion and Art with 8 years of experience in teaching at various schools in Germany , Australia, Asia, Canada. My teaching style is very interactive and I try to adjust it to everyone's needs. Every student is different and learns differently. My goal is to equip my students with tools and also to inspire them with my enthusiasm for the German language & culture. My teaching method is to focus on the 4 skills : listening , speaking, reading and writing . Those 4 skills will be covered in every lesson except the student is requesting to focus only on the conversational part etc. I'm flexible and can accomodate to every students needs. I was born in Germany and I have traveled all over the world. Now I invite you to travel with me into the German language.  

As a foreign language correspondent, I also have the language mentor certificate, and studied to teach German (DaF teacher) at the Goethe Institute in Munich.     

I have been teaching German to people of all ages and all levels for more than 20 years from A0 to C2.  

Learning a language is speaking a language.  So we're going to have a lot of conversation.                                                   

You may start as a beginner. You may want to deepen your vocabulary or grammar, or you may want pure conversation.

Maybe you have an exam coming up, or you need German for your job or for a meeting. Perhaps you want to immigrate.

-  We use a wide variety of materials, such as picture cards, books (e.g. "Menschen" Hueber Verlag), audios, videos, role plays, and worksheets. 

-  You get your own presentation (My German Course) on Google Slides, your own access to Google Docs, as well an access to an interactive software.

-  I always integrate listening, speaking, writing and reading into the lessons. In addition to my mother tongue German, I speak English (C1) and Spanish (B1).

I have taught all levels at our national university language lab and privately. Also, I prepare for international examinations: *Goethe A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2, *TELC, *DSH, *Occupation Medicine B2-C1, *Workplace/occupation A2-B1, *Children A1-A2.

These are communicative, state-of-the-art and highly efficient classes that comprehensively integrate the four learning abilities of listening and reading comprehension, oral and written expression, but without compromising on the required grammar. That's because I have all the suitable tools at our disposal. In addition to the class and workbooks, we use an interactive PDF-whiteboard. We have numerous audio and video tracks, as well as other very efficient interactive tools. Levels range from beginner to advanced, from A1 to C2. 

My approach is systematic but flexible, fully adapting to the learning pace of each student, so that they feel comfortable. And of course, I also try to make the class enjoyable and entertaining without leaving the academic objectives aside. In this sense, I know that most of you will need an international diploma at some point, and the methods I use are also aimed at this objective, as well as preparing you for colloquial communication in a new cultural environment. Every language is also a new culture, a new world.

Teaching Approach

There are many ways to teach a lesson. I'm a lover of a varied approach whenever applicable. I can honestly say that I will always do my very best to find suitable methods in order to facilitate comprehension and learning.

Over the course of a lesson, I might use audio files, videos, transcripts, books, worksheets or custom-tailored exercises that I feel are best suited for that particular student. Likewise, I will also train conversation - practical or otherwise.

I highly value being kind, patient, modest and encouraging. I always strive to create an environment that fosters a positive feeling. An inviting atmosphere is essential for learning anything at all. I welcome mistakes students make because it's normal to do so, plus that is one of the best ways to learn something properly.

My ultimate goal for you, as my student, is to enjoy yourself while learning and progressing!

Students are different, and all have their own individual needs and expectations. I see myself as someone who is guiding them along their chosen path. Occasionally prompting them to discover (the beauty of) a concept here and there they might otherwise have overlooked. Helping them to develop long-term strategies that will make them feel accomplished and self-assured.

Qualifications & Experience

I've studied at a German university. I've worked as a full time teacher in German trade schools for many years. I've easily taught more than 4,500 lessons over the years. I taught students from all walks of life, with their ages ranging from fifteen to forty-five years.

My name is Beatrice, and I’m excited that you want to learn my native language, German, or Swiss German. 

For the last 10 years, I have taught German to colleagues and friends, and since February 2023, I have been teaching German online. So far, I have helped an A2 and a B1 student pass their TELC German certificates in Summer 2023.  I have an English, French and Spanish language certificate, and I'm following training for a German language teaching degree.  

It is important for me that you enjoy learning German, that I can help you in a well-understood and enjoyable way, and that you reach your goals. It is up to you what you wish to learn — if you need German for your profession, for traveling, or if you want to pass a Goethe or TELC language certificate. 

For many years, I lived in Germany, Switzerland and Spain. There, I worked in tourism as well as customer service in the front and back offices as an agent and team leader. Now I’m teaching online while traveling the world. My first destination is Spain, the Canary Island of Gran Canaria, and my second destination is the Island of Malta.

My hobbies are learning and teaching languages, traveling, reading, writing, yoga, hiking, swimming and dancing.
